wwf speedy

Smaller's grade raised tadpoles last year. They watched them grow into froglets and at the end of the year about 30 kids asked to take home a frog. The next day two of the bullfrogs in the tank ate about 25 of the froglets, leaving only a handful for students to take home. There was a lottery to see who got them. Smaller got "picked". I found out later that his teacher rigged the winning, knowing how obsessed Smaller is with frogs. So now we own Speedy. Speedy was named for his, well, speed. It is what made him hard to catch in the tank when Smaller tried to trap him to take home, and it is what undoubtedly saved his life from the giant cannibalistic bullfrogs.

Speedy eats crickets. So now I have to buy creatures to feed to another creature. Two days ago we caught a giant cricket out back and decided we should feed it to Speedy. Maybe he would like open air cricket, better than the pansy ass pet store crickets we have been feeding him. This sucker was big though, and Speedy is still a pretty tiny frog.

Dun, dun, duh...

When we put the cricket into Speedy's tank there was an immediate stand off. Speedy made a lunge and took off the crickets feelers. Both came out of the tussle a little shaken up. Speedy took a minute to gather himself and after a few more attempts managed to catch him with the crickets long legs sticking out of his mouth. It was a huge victory. The best was how we all stood around watching this like it was the smack down of the century. Smaller was cheering him on and we kept yelling ding between each round. It was an all out wild kingdom WWF.

Now that is entertainment folks.
